A Belfast Giants ice hockey player is facing drugs charges after being indicted by a New York grand jury.

Sean McMorrow, 28, is accused of bringing 100kgs of "a substance containing marijuana" into the US from Canada with intent to distribute.

The offences allegedly took place between 2003 and 2005. It is understood the player is still in Belfast.

REAL IRA activist Ciaran Doherty was shot dead by his fellow terrorists because they suspected he had supplied information which led to the garda seizure of a cannabis factory in Co Donegal last month.

Doherty (31) was shot in the head and chest and his semi-naked body, with his hands tied together, was left on the outskirts of Derry city, close to the border with Donegal.

A university student accused in connection with a £2m drugs seizure has received permission to return to his studies in England.

Richard Noble, 26, was one of eight men charged after police on both sides of the Irish Sea recovered cocaine, speed and herbal cannabis.
