Confiscation orders in the sum of £107, 860 were yesterday made by a judge against two men found guilty of running a cannabis factory in Calne.
In October Ian Walding and Richard Lambert appeared before Swindon Crown Court in relation to the commercial production of cannabis at the Calne Industrial Unit, and Judge Hart sentenced each man to a total of 27 months in prison and made a forfeiture order in respect of the items seized by the Police during the investigation.
Yesterday a judge at Gloucester Crown court made the confiscation order.
On 8th September 2008 Police Officers entered an industrial unit on the Portemarsh Industrial Estate, Calne, and discovered that the unit had been converted for the purposes of growing cannabis on a very large scale.
In addition to a quantity of harvested cannabis, found inside the unit, 400 plants were also recovered by the Officers, together with a considerable amount of highly technical growing equipment.
Ian Walding, aged 43 years of Hinton Parva, nr.Swindon and Richard Lambert, aged 55 years of Welwyn Garden City were subsequently charged in respect of the “cannabis factory”, possession of controlled drugs found at their home addresses and with a money laundering offence.
