A haul of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £20,000 was for communal smoking, according to one Peckham man in the dock last week.
A police raid on the man’s flat last Wednesday found the cannabis, as well as a £1,000 in cash on the 49-year-old’s sofa, and £4,000 in a wardrobe.
Errol Murphy, from Chadwick Road, spoke only to confirm his name, as he was charged with possession of thirteen kilos of the class B drug with intent to supply.
Though he gave no indication of his plea, his solicitor said that in his interview at the station Murphy had accepted the drugs were his.
He added that Murphy smoked the drugs communally with his friends. District Judge Timothy Stone refused to give the man bail, and said he would be locked up until his bail hearing on February 5.
The judge added that because of the potential sentence involved, on February 25 the case would be sent to the crown court for trial.
