A 26-year-old Enniskillen man who was found in possession of cannabis has been fined £250 at Fermanagh Magistrate’s Court.
District Judge Liam McNally heard how on Thursday 30th April, police were on patrol in Derrin Park Cornagrade when they observed the defendant, Mark Colin Semple from Inniskeen Close get into a vehicle. He took several glances at police. A chase pursued and Semple ran down a grass embankment and threw two items away. Three lumps of cannabis in film were subsequently found. He later admitted that they were intended for his own personal use.
Defending, Bernard Corrigan said his client admitted the possession of the Class B drugs at an early opportunity. He said the cannabis was for his own use. He said he co-operated with police when apprehended.
Mr McNally said he would consider the defendant’s early plea and the fact that he had nothing of this nature on his record. He imposed a £250 fine. He reminded him that this was a Class B drug and if he appeared again he would leave himself open to facing a custodial sentence.
